Acute Orthopedic Injury

What is an acute orthopedic injury? It is typically an injury associated with a specific trauma.

These injuries include:

  • Ligament sprains

  • Tendon/muscle strains

  • Tendon/muscle/ligament ruptures

  • Fractures

  • Dislocations

  • Cartilage injuries

With any tissue injury you are looking at healing time frames. Take a muscle tissue injury, if looking at a Grade I injury you may be looking at as few as 0-3 days. Meanwhile a Grade III injury can take upwards of 6 months!

With cash-based therapy, the goal is to time your therapy visits to meet key milestones in your recovery without over-prescribing therapy.

Physical therapists are comfortable triaging orthopedic injuries and know when referral to an orthopedic physician is appropriate
